Is there a name for a piece where they've set words to a piece that's instrumental? That's what this is. Flanders and Swann have taken the third movement of Mozart's Horn Concerto No. 4 (perhaps you will find it familiar) and written a song about a guy (probably technically a bloke) who is an amateur French horn player. I love funny songs, and the words to this are very clever, full of internal rhymes, etc. The best line is "I found that horn - gone;" he manages to make "gone" rhyme with "horn."

Love it! This is a great one for early in the morning, gets you starting the day on the right note. He sounds like one of the Two Ronnies, Ronnie Corbett. I don't know F and S.
ReplyDeleteGreat.
