81. Serenade for Strings in C Major, 1st movement. Tchaikovsky

I think I first heard this on CBC2 years ago, and I liked it so much I got this Decca 2-CD set (Neville Marriner and the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields) which also includes serenades by Wiren, Brahms, Dvorak, and Suk, all of which are great. The part I like the best in this piece is the opening (which is also the ending). In between there is some dramatic stuff and some quite cheerful stuff, but the opening and ending are incredibly rich and poignant.
