We all knew this day would come. Dr. S's last entry on 99 songs. I've really enjoyed my guest appearances here, but one thing in life is certain: you can't always trust happiness.
This is just about my favorite Alison Krauss song. She has a fondness for really, really sad songs. In an interview she once talked about listening to the demo of Gillian Welch's song New Favorite and thinking, "That's awful. That's devastating. We gotta have it." She did get it, and we're all the more miserable and all the better for it. Alison sings New Favorite in concert but in the 5 or 6 times we've seen her, she's not sung Happiness. She often says "We don't want anyone leaving our shows feelin' good!" so I think she should give it a try. We'd all be wrecked.
